Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Molokini Crater the best snorkeling in Maui?

Molokini Crater is a crescent-shaped marine sanctuary that blocks ocean swells, creating the calm, crystal-clear water that provides the best snorkeling in Maui. As Hawaii's most famous snorkel destination, this Molokini Crater snorkeling tour is the standout choice among all Maui snorkeling tours, with visibility often exceeding 100 feet.

What's included on this Molokini snorkel tour?

This five-hour Molokini snorkel tour includes two snorkel stops, a chef-prepared breakfast, mid-morning ahi poke, a buffet lunch, and an open bar featuring Maui Brewing Co. and a zero-proof program. We also provide premium snorkel gear, flotation, reef-safe essentials, showers, and an onboard photographer, making it the best Molokini snorkel tour for overall value.

When is the best time to snorkel at Molokini Crater?

Early morning is the absolute best time when you plan to snorkel at Molokini Crater. Our 7:00 AM departure puts you in the water before the trade winds and crowds arrive, delivering the clearest visibility of any Maui snorkel tours. Check-in is at 6:45 AM at Maalaea Harbor.

Where do we snorkel besides Molokini Crater?

After snorkeling at Molokini Crater, we visit a second premium location. In the summer, this is a vibrant coastal reef in Turtle Town, creating a true Molokini and Turtle Town snorkeling experience. In the winter, we pivot to prime humpback whale territory for incredible seasonal viewing.

Is this snorkeling tour good for beginners?

Yes, this Molokini snorkeling tour is highly beginner-friendly and welcomes all ages. The protected waters of Molokini Crater are exceptionally calm, and our crew provides expert instruction, premium gear, and ample flotation devices to make first-timers feel completely safe when they snorkel Molokini.

How is this different from other Maui snorkel tours?

This is a genuine sailing experience aboard a 65-foot catamaran, not a standard motorized cruise. We hoist the sails to ride the trade winds home. Combined with dockside boarding, bow hammocks, and chef-prepared dining, it is widely rated as the best Molokini Crater snorkel tour and a standout Molokini snorkel cruise.

Why is Molokini Crater so famous for snorkeling?

Molokini is a protected Marine Life Conservation District hosting hundreds of species of tropical fish and vibrant coral. Its rare volcanic structure delivers the crystal-clear water and thriving ecosystem that put snorkeling in Maui at Molokini at the top of every list. It is exactly why a Molokini Crater tour is a must-do.

Do I need to know how to swim to snorkel Molokini?

We highly recommend being comfortable in the water, but our crew provides instruction and flotation belts that make it easy to snorkel at Molokini Crater for almost everyone. For safety reasons, full-face snorkel masks are not permitted on any charter.
